PESHAWAR: As unofficial and unconfirmed results from KP local governments pour in, two candidates from top political families have surfaced as triumphant.

According to reports, Shamon Abbasi, son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and a Muslim League-Nawaz leader, won election for Member of District Council Abbottabad, defeating Mubin Abbasi of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Shamon Abbasi bagged 2970 votes while the PTI candidate was the runner-up with 1762 votes.

PTI’s Ahad Khan Khattak, nephew of KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, won the contest for Nowshera’s district Council membership, securing 3826 votes.
