Gandapur hurled abuses at women polling staff: police officer
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Finance Ali Ameen Gandapur, who has been released on bail, had hurled abuses at women polling staff before allegedly snatching polling boxes during recently held local bodies elections in the province, said a police officer Wednesday.

A report, prepared by District Police Officer (DPO) Sadiq Hussain Baloch, says Gandapur also manhandled women polling staff and snatched ballot papers from them.

The provincial minister was accompanied by his brother and a Returning Officer (RO), according to the report.

SHO of the local police station, present on the occasion, refused to offer his services after insults by Gandapur, said Sadiq Baloch. He went on to say that the provincial minister was under alcohol’s influence at the time of the incident according to the assistant commissioner.

Gandapur has already been charged with taking possession of ballot boxes during the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections and drawing a weapon on a policeman.

The provincial minister had surrendered to the police at his residence on Monday night.
