Thou shalt not have Paye
LAHORE: In the fight against rising pollution, the Punjab administration has banned the burning of trotters for preparation of ‘Paye’ across the province this coming Eid.

‘Paye’ or ‘Paya’ is a popular South Asian dish that is prepared using the feet of the animal which are slow-cooked for hours and has a soup-like consistency. It is considered a delicacy and is often served at festivals. The dish however finds its roots in Central Asia.

Besides banning the preparation of ‘Paye’ the Punjab administration has also cancelled holidays of all sanitation department staff.

The circular issued from Lahore also states that temporary centers will be established to collect animal remains while senior officials will visit areas to make sure the law is being followed.

All DCO’s have been instructed to make certain that the law is being followed in letter and spirit.
