British actor Jason Isaacs is one of 7 actors from HBO Max drama "The White Lotus" to be nominated on Tuesday (July 15) for a supporting role at the Emmys.

It's his first nomination and Isaacs is still a little overwhelmed.

Speaking to Reuters, he said "Everybody loves a bit of flattery, but I don't quite know what to do with it.... I don't want to be a dick, you know."

As "The White Lotus" is an ensemble piece, all actors were put forward in the supporting role categories.

Isaacs is joined by his co-stars Walton Goggins and Sam Rockwell in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category, while the supporting actress category contains four from the show - Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Aimee Lou Wood.

However, Isaacs believes that all of them are representing the rest of the actors from the show.

He said, "I feel like we're all on the list together. All the cast are represented by everybody. It feels like a big group enterprise. So, yeah, we're constantly texting and all the little groups who went out for dinner are texting each other and we're FaceTime-ing each other. And everybody's very, very serious and earnest and loving. I, of course, am British so I'm taking the p*** out of everyone, trying to burst their bubbles."

In the show, Isaacs plays Timothy Ratliff, the proud patriarch of a North Carolina family who discovers while on vacation that he's lost all his wealth and is facing prison time.

At the world premiere in February, Isaacs admitted he was very concerned about whether his final scenes would land with audiences as they were so intense.

"Yeah, I was anxious about it and I was anxious about believing myself," he said, adding "If you don't believe yourself, you don't think you are genuinely wanting to kill your family, and then changing your mind and all this stuff, and then the audience won't believe you, because the camera can tell when you lie. You know, you have to believe it. "

Now, the show's been a hit and he's received an Emmy nomination for his work, does Isaacs feel validated now?

He said, "No, never. Never. I hope I never do. I think that's the death of creativity."
