Actor turned director Ron Howard poked fun at his Emmy nomination on Tuesday (July 15) after he was nominated for his role in Apple TV+'s The Studio.

In the third episode, he plays a more temperamental version of himself in the show, which is itself a pastiche of Hollywood.

Howard began his career in Hollywood as an actor officially in 1959 and starred as Opie in The Danny Thomas Show and spent a decade on hit TV comedy Happy Days as Richie Cunningham. He pivoted to directing successfully with films such as Frost/Nixon and "Apollo 13. Howard won the best picture as well as best director Oscar for the film "A Beautiful Mind.

In a video titled "Who says nice guys finish last!?!", Howard is seen sitting at his desk talking to somebody on the phone about his Emmy nomination.

He's heard saying "I'm laughing because, you know, I've been in the television business since, what, 1959 and this is the first time that I've been nominated for acting, so, you know. Oh, no, no. Opie's not worthy? Richie's chopped liver?"
