Parliamentarians express support for democracy during NA session
ISLAMABAD: The week long session of the joint session of parliament began its proceedings on Tuesday with parliamentarians expressing their support for democracy and the constitution.

Parliament united against mutiny: Nisar 




Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar said that the entire parliament is united against invasion and mutiny, Geo News reported.

Addressing the joint session of parliament on current political situation today, Chaudhry Nisar said the country is passing through extremely critical times. He said that this parliament is the voice of 180 million people and is united in the face of invasion and mutiny against the state of Pakistan by a few thousand people.

Opposition supports constitution, democracy: Ahsan 




Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said opposition parties support the constitution and democracy unconditionally. Ahsan cautioned that if the government overcame this crisis its ministers would become more arrogant.

Addressing the joint session, Ahsan said parliament was unanimous in its support for the prime minister. The PPP senator added that the parliament, prime minister and cabinet would remain intact. “It is unprecedented how opposition parties are standing with the government.”

Need to rescue parliament from gypsies: Achakzai 




Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said on Tuesday that all political parties, the judiciary, civil society and media are united to safeguard the constitution.

Addressing the joint session of the Parliament he said, "civil society, judiciary and media are with us and now we request [the] Pakistan Army to be with us as well".

He stated, that it is the most important day in the history of Pakistan and it is a test for the nation. He added that the parliament needs to be rescued from the gypsies (protesters).

Parliament foiled conspiracy against democracy: Fazl 





JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman addressed the joint session stating that unity of parliament had foiled a conspiracy against Pakistan.

The JUI-F chief stressed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would not be resigning nor would he be going on leave. Fazlur Rehman called upon the government to clear Islamabad of the protests as it was their responsibility to do so.

Imran Khan has no agenda: Siddiqui 




MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had no agenda. Siddiqui added that if he had announced a civil disobedience movement like Imran Khan, a treason case would have been lodged against him

The MQM leader said his party was willing to give up its 25 NA seats if it would resolve the political crisis in the country.

Javed Hashmi resigns as MNA 




President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi resigned from the National Assembly membership. Addressing from the joint session of the Parliament, he said that he was not sure if he will be able to attend the National Assembly session again or not.

Hashmi said no PTI MNA had tendered their resignations willingly as he announced his resignation.

Criticizing the present government, he said that Nawaz Sharif is in the rule for the past 31 years but could not resolve public issues. He said that he could not mention the injustice done by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz during its 14 months of rule.
