Killer Paratha: Fujairah man chokes on flat-bread

FUJAIRAH: The South-Asian Paratha (flat-bread) made of ghee and flour adds a certain richness to even the simplest of South Asian meals. For one unfortunate Emirati the paratha ended his life.

According to hospital sources, the 53-year-old Emirati man was brought in with a large piece of paratha blocking his windpipe. Attempts to remove the piece of flat-bread failed and the patient died.

Authorities have ordered that the body be released to the family after any foul play was ruled out in the medical report. The report stated the patient died due to an acute deterioration in blood circulation and stoppage of breathing because the windpipe was blocked.
