MQM decides to part ways with PPP govt
KARACHI: Dejected by the government’s decision to withdraw cases against Lyari’s Aman Committee and its failure to maintain peace in Karachi, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, has decided to part ways with the Pakistan People's Party government in centre and Sindh.

The decision was announced by Dr Farooq Sattar at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters on Saturday.

Sattar said that the decision was final and would not be changed. He said the MQM would sit-on opposition benches. The MQM leader said it had joined the PPP government leaving behind past bitterness and supported it in difficult times. But, he said the PPP left the people of Sindh on the mercy of bureaucracy, depriving them of local government system. He said the MQM kept the high command of the PPP informing about its miseries but to no avail.

He said PPP supported bloodshed by creating People’s Aman Committee and that Criminals of Lyari Gang war were being released. The police is presenting them as political leaders and peaceful citizens, he added.

Condemning the killing of people belonging to Hazara Community, he dubbed it as a result of indifference and insensitivity on the part of the government.

He said MQM has successfully discharged the duty of helping the government complete its five-year term.
