Rockstar Games has confirmed that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will be revealed through a trailer scheduled for 5 December at 1400 GMT, igniting fervour among gaming enthusiasts.

While the release date of the game itself remains undisclosed, the anticipation has soared, evident in the 26 million views on Rockstar's X post announcing the imminent trailer launch within just under two hours.

Having marked a decade since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5), the second best-selling video game globally with over 185 million copies sold, fans have eagerly awaited the next instalment.

Rockstar Games officially acknowledged the production of GTA 6 in February 2022, with the company's president, Sam Houser, revealing the strategic choice of a December trailer release to coincide with the game's 25th anniversary.

Simultaneously, Rockstar has unveiled a collaboration with Netflix, introducing beloved titles GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas to Netflix's gaming platform on mobile devices starting from 14 December. The reveal adds an extra layer of excitement for fans, offering access to these iconic games via the streaming giant.

As the gaming community braces for the unveiling of GTA 6, it's worth noting that the series, initiated in 1997, has witnessed enduring popularity with multiple spin-offs and platform releases.

Despite persistent rumours over the past decade, the extended wait for GTA 6 is speculated to be influenced by the success of GTA Online, the multiplayer counterpart generating substantial annual revenue for Rockstar Games.

GTA V's continued popularity, spanning three console generations, underscores the franchise's enduring appeal, with its multiplayer component contributing significantly to the company's financial success.
