To welcome the Nepali New Year, devotees at Thimi, an ancient city situated in the outskirts of Khatmandu, smeared themselves with vermillion powder and celebrated the Sindoor Jatra Festival.
During the festival chariots containing the images of various gods and goddesses are carried across the city by dancing devotees.
The festival is a tourist attraction and offers a glimpse into what the Nepalese culture is.
