PPP, PML-N workers vandalize emergency ward of Khanpur hospital

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Tehsil Headquarter Hospital (THQ) in Khanpur on Wednesday became a battlefield when workers of two rival political parties clashed in the emergency ward.

Angry men broke the glass windows of the emergency ward, destroyed the air conditioner, and medicine cabinets, as they fought each other.

Workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) clashed at the Kotli Mahi area of the district, following which the injured men of one group were taken to the government hospital, reports said.

The rival group reached the hospital and another clash erupted between the conflicting parties. According to sources, the local body elections that took place on December 5, 2015 became the cause of the clash.

The hospital administration called the police to bring the situation under control.

Police arrested several party workers and began an investigation into the incident.
