FIA to widen scope of Imran Farooq murder probe

ISLAMABAD:  Federal investigative authorities have decided to widen the scope of probe into the high profile murder of MQM leader Imran Farooq in the light of evidence shared by British investigators and three suspects arrested by local police.

According to reports, the Federal Investigation (FIA) agency would interrogate Pak Sarzameen Party leaders Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani, Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan and senior MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar.

Citing sources privy to the matter, a Geo News correspondent in the federal capital, said Mohsin Ali Syed, Moazzam Ali and Khalid Shamim, have told the investigators that Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani ‘had sufficient knowledge' about the murder of the Pakistani politician who was stabbed to death in London’s Edgware district in 2010.

The Scotland Yard is also said to have been searching for Arshad Wohra in connection to their investigation into money laundering case which unfolded during the series of raids following Imran Farooq's murder.

Wohra, who frequently traveled to UK during the last 30 years, has been avoiding visiting London for a year now. He has also ignored repeated phone calls and emails sent out by the Scotland Yard, the sources said.
