Residents of Ozone Park in Queens, New York are demanding the authorities to declare the killings of Imam Maulana Alauddin Akonjee and his associate Thara Uddin as 'hate crime'.

But the police say they cannot do so yet because their investigation is still not complete. Police have yet to release a motive behind the killings.

35-year-old Oscar Morel has been charged with first and second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in these killings.
