Rakaposhi: The ‘snow-covered’ mountain of Pakistan

Situated in Gilgit-Baltistan, Rakaposhi is the 27th tallest mountain in the world and 12th in Pakistan.

However, the mountain is more known for its beauty rather than its rank.

Rakaposhi means ‘snow-covered’ in the local language and is also known as Dumani (mother of mist).

It is situated approximately 100 kilometres north of the capital city Gilgit of the Gilgit–Baltistan.
