KARACHI: With a philosophy of ‘not to copy’ but to create, the acclaimed theater group KopyKats comes to Karachi with its latest political satire 'Bananistan'.

The group’s previous productions penned by celebrated playwright Anwar Maqsood include hits like Pawnay 14 August, Sawa 14 August, and Siachen.

After six successful productions with Anwar Maqsood, KopyKats this time has worked on a concept by Dawar Mehmood who has written the script in collaboration with 5 other writers.

Set in 2030, Bananistan shows a play within the play where all the major politicians have chosen to aspire for careers on the stage.

Co-writing and acting, Mustafa Chaudry describes it as a very funny and relevant take on politics of today.

Enacting Imran Khan in the play, Dawar Mehmood has replaced himself by getting Tulin Khalid Azim on board as director.

Bananistan will stage daily 8 pm onwards at Arts Council Karachi till October 24th.
