LOS ANGELES: Google has come up with a way to turn iPhone photos into full, 360-degree virtual reality.
The new Cardboard Camera app, out Monday for Apple's IOS devices, offers tools to take photos on your smartphone camera, and process them for a wider view.
The app had been available at first for just Google Android devices.
Google describes the final product as 3D panoramas. Like a traditional panorama, you shoot the image vertically, and actually take several images in one sitting, by rotating the body from left to right.
You can view the finished photos on your phone, using your finger to shift from left to right, or get a "3D" view by inserting your phone into the Google Cardboard viewer and taking a look that way. The viewer sells for $15.
Google says you can share the 360 photos by generating a link in the app.
