Funeral prayers offered for martyred Pakistani soldiers in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: People in Indian Occupied Kashmir offered funeral prayers in absentia for the two Pakistani soldiers who were by unprovoked Indian firing across the Line of Control, local media reported on Thursday.

According to reports, an announcement was made through loudspeakers in Srinagar's historic Jamia Masjid area asking people to assemble at Nowhatta for the funeral prayers.

A large number of people attended the funeral prayers for Naik Imtiaz and Hawaldar Jumma Khan, the two Pakistani soldiers who embraced martyrdom in cross-border firing, which India painted as a 'surgical strike'.

According to details released by the ISPR, Naik Imtiaz, who belonged to Faisalabad, left behind a widow and three daughters. He was martyred in Indian firing in Bhinbhar sector at the Line of Control in wee hours of Thursday.

Imtiaz was laid to rest covered in the national flag in his native town in Faisalabad earlier today, where scores of people arrived to pay tributes to the martyr.

The other martyred soldier, Hawaldar Jumma Khan, will be laid to rest in his hometown in Astore on Friday. Jumma Khan leaves behind a son and two daughters.
