Ali Murtaza, a Karachi trader killed in a firing incident in Balochistan’s Dasht area, was laid to rest on Sunday as the business community demanded justice, immediate arrests, and a transparent investigation.

The funeral prayers for Murtaza were offered at Rahmaniya Mosque on Tariq Road before he was buried at the Society Cemetery. A large number of family members, relatives, trader leaders and members of the business community attended the funeral.

The trading community condemned the killing and urged the federal and Balochistan governments to immediately arrest those responsible and ensure a transparent investigation into the incident.

Appealing to the authorities, Karachi Mobile Dealers Association President Minhaj Gulfam said: “We appeal to the government of the day, the government of Balochistan, the army chief, and the interior minister to ensure justice is served for our martyred trader.

“The terrorists must be arrested immediately and brought to justice.” Gulfam added that the future course of action regarding Murtaza’s killing would be decided after consultation.

The deceased trader is survived by his wife and two children. Gulfam said that the deceased trader’s wife remains under treatment at a hospital.

Trader leaders described the incident as an act of “open terrorism” and said no government official had contacted them since the attack.

They demanded that those involved be punished in accordance with the law and that justice be provided to the bereaved family.
