CTD arrest seven banned outfit members from Karachi

Weapons were also recovered from the suspects during a raid in city’s North Karachi area, says CTD chief Raja Umar Khattab

KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police arrested seven terrorists from North Karachi Sector-5 in the wee hours of Friday.

According to CTD chief Raja Umar Khattab, the terrorists were arrested after an exchange of fire between them and CTD personnel.

He said that the terrorists belonged to a banned outfit. Khattab claimed that weapons were also recovered from the possession of the suspects.

Meanwhile Pakistan Rangers killed a gang war suspect in megapolis’ Lyari area, according to the spokesman for the paramilitary force.

He said that Rangers conducted a search operation in Lyari’s Singo Lane, adding that gang war member Younis Baloch was killed in an exchange of fire while two others managed to escape.

Police also conducted a raid in Lyari and arrested an injured suspect while two other suspects were arrested from port city’s Defence area.

11 other suspects were also nabbed by police during a search operation in hotels located near Cannt Station.

The suspects have been shifted to a police station for interrogation.

Moreover, the anti-encroachment department razed two illegally constructed wedding halls located in North Karachi Sector-11.

Department officials stated that the wedding halls were illegally constructed on a charitable plot.
