Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced a rally on October 16 to complete his slain mother’s unfinished rally in 2007 when her motorcade was attacked by a powerful bomb.

In a video message released on Twitter on Wednesday Bilawal made the announcement. “On October 16 at 10 AM I will take out a rally from Bilawal House to Karsaz. I hope you will join me,” he said.

On October 18, 2007 his mother and former prime minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto led a rally which was cut short after a powerful bomb rocked her motorcade. Though Benazir survived over 180 people were killed, mostly PPP workers.

Bilawal in his message likened the struggle of his party for democracy and justice to the journey of Karbala. “Muharram reminds us of Karbala and the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions. Where ever there is injustice, there is Karbala,” he said.

He said the PPP had always struggled against injustice. “As a result our leaders Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Shahnawaz Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and hundreds of leaders were martyred."
