UK CGS terms Pak Army's NWA initiatives 'impressive'

RAWALPINDI/PESHAWAR: General Nicholas Carter, UK Chief of General Staff (CGS), Wednesday observed as 'impressive' the offensive against terrorists by the Pakistan Army and other initiatives in the country's north-western tribal region, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Gen Nicholas Carter, accompanied by Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Hidayat ur Rehman today visited Miran Shah, North Waziristan Agency.

The Pakistan Army's formation commander briefed the UK CGS and other officials about prevailing environment in the agency after the operation Zarb-e-Azb and dismantled terror infrastructure there, ISPR spokesman Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said.

The visiting dignitary was also briefed on development projects undertaken by the Pakistani military in the region, the return and rehabilitation of temporarily displaced persons (TDP).

The UK CGS found the Pakistani Army's initiative impressive, Bajwa said on Twitter.

Earlier, General Carter called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the GHQ, where he laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
