MQM Pakistan expels 11 members from party fold

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan leadership Saturday expelled 11 members from the party fold, advising workers to not keep any contact with them.

The MQM Pakistan Rabita Committee revoked membership of 11 affiliates for violating party discipline and expelled them from the party, according to a statement issued today. The party terminated four members of the Tanzeemi committee and seven of Hyderabad district committee.

"Those expelled include Zafar Rajpoot, Rasheed Bhayya, Fauzia Amir and Rizwana Aslam of the SPC," the statement read. The expelled members from Hyderabad include Abid Ghouri, Javed Khan, Zulfiqar Khanzada, Faheem Mughal, Farooq Khan, Fahim Raheel and Saeed Aziz.

The MQM Pakistan advised its office-bearers and activists to not keep any contact with expelled masses.

One of the expelled members, Zafar Rajpoot, was taken into custody from Hyderabad today. He, along with another man, was apprehended during a raid at his residence.

Rajpoot was nominated as member of the Hyderabad zonal committee by the London chapter of the party.

The law enforcers rounded up two other activists of the MQM London, Intikhab Alam and his brother, Raheel, late on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, three members of MQM London's interim Rabita Committee were arrested in Karachi.
