Do you get annoyed waiting for those non-skippable 30-second advertisements on YouTube to end before you can watch a video?

Well, you are in luck then.

To end the misery of the viewers, Google, which bought YouTube in 2006, has announced that it will end the 30-second non-skippable videos. However, don’t celebrate yet as the process will be completed by 2018, so we still have to wait another 10 months for it to materialise.

In a statement to Campaign, Google spokesperson remarked, “We’re committed to providing a better ads experience for users online. As part of that, we’ve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers,”

However, it is important to note that Google is not killing all non-skippable advertisements just those which are 30-second long.

Users will still have to watch advertisements which are 15-second and 20-second long or skip the 6-second bumper advertisements introduced last year.
