Quetta Gladiators kicked off their innings at a ferocious pace, thanks to a blistering batting display by Kevin Pietersen and Ahmed Shehzad.

Pietersen’s rapid 40 off 22 balls and Shehzad’s destructive 71 off 38 balls caused an onslaught which will be remembered for months and years to come.

Asghar’s catch in the deep

KP’s blazing innings came to a cruel end when Mohammad Asghar took a ripper of a catch in the deep – just one of the many cool catches the youngster has taken in the tournament!

Bowled him! Wahab Riaz strikes

Zalmi pacer Wahab Riaz clinched three wickets in the match, two of which were the neatest clean-bowled’s you would have seen in recent times. Rilee Rossouw was completely helpless in the face of this Wahab delivery.

Chasing a daunting 201, Zalmi lost two wickets within the opening moments of their innings. Despite the early setback, Mohammad Hafeez and Dawid Malan put up an incredible batting stand of nearly 140 runs, taking their side to the brink of victory.

Bizarre run-outs

The Zalmi vs Gladiators playoff was all about run-outs! During the Gladiators’ innings, both Anwar Ali and captain Sarfraz Ahmed were run out back-to-back. Zalmi, chasing the gigantic target, were just recovering from losing their first wicket when Marlon Samuels got run out after a misunderstanding at the crease. But there was more to come; Sarfraz pulled off two of his most memorable run-outs in the crucial closing moments of the match, taking the team to a nail-biting one-run victory.

The last ball run-out sealed Gladiators’ place in the final, thanks to a skillfully bowled death over by Mohammad Nawaz, who also bagged 3 invaluable wickets.
