LAHORE: Former West Indies captain of Darren Sammy has already become the most sought after cricketer as he came to Pakistan to play the high-voltage final of the Pakistan Super League 2017.

This correspondent witnessed how supporters, including—but not limited to—security personnel were aiming to meet the West Indian star.

At the lobby of the hotel where Sammy was staying with other members of his Peshawar Zalmi team, the former WI skipper appeared to be the most favorite character, and rightly so, because of his support for Pakistan cricket.

Security personnel were seen taking photographs with him at the hotel, while security personnel deployed at the stadium got another opportunity to have selfies with the West Indian star as Zalmi team took a round of the Gaddafi stadium ahead of the match.

The former West Indian captain reciprocated the love by entertaining the crowd with his dance skills at the colorful ceremony ahead of the final.

Later, speaking at the pre-match presentation, Sammy revealed that it was Shahid Afridi who convinced him to visit Pakistan.

"The atmosphere is great and hopefully Peshawar comes out victorious. My good friend Lala said: 'If we get to the final you should come to Lahore for the final'. Hopefully we can entertain and cricket will be the winner," he said.
