Strict action ordered against kite-flying in Lahore: DIG Operations

LAHORE: Strict action has been ordered against kite-flying in Lahore.

According to DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, action should be taken against those found violating the ban by flying or selling kites and the material association with the activity.

He has ordered all the divisional superintendents of police to ensure the ban on kite-flying in the city is effectively implemented as such a fatal activity could not be allowed to be carried out.

The DIG has also requested all the parents to stop their children from getting involved in such activities.

The crackdown against kite flyers has been going on in the city since quite some time.

A few weeks back at least 36 kite flyers were arrested in a day during a crackdown by the police and several cases were registered.

Some people continue to make and fly kites, despite a ban on kite-flying in Lahore and frequent crackdowns by the police.

The police had said the crackdown was carried out in various areas of the city, including Nawakot, Sherakot and Samanabad. The police had also seized huge amounts of kites, rolls and strings.
