LAHORE: The medical report of newly-wed bride Hira, who was killed soon after her marriage, has been released. The report confirms Hira was suffocated to death. It stated her nose and mouth also bled due to the suspension of oxygen.

However, whether she was fed something poisonous before being killed will be known once the report of Punjab Forensic Science Agency is released.

The accused sat on a pillow on Hira's face for around 20 minutes which affected her brain, stated the report.

Her husband Umer Tanveer, who confessed to killing her, is in the police's custody and he has not yet been remanded by any court.

Hira was killed three days after her wedding, according to the police.

A few days back, Tanveer confessed to killing her in Lahore’s Samanabad area.

The police said Tanveer killed Hira in her sleep by suffocating her to death. The groom confessed that he put the pillow on her Hira’s face for 20 minutes.

Tanveer killed her as he did not want to marry Hira, who was also his paternal cousin, but instead wanted to tie the knot with another woman, who was in Dubai, said the police. However, he married Hira under family pressure.

The police arrested Tanveer after Hira was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in her room, three days after her wedding.

The groom initially denied killing her. “Hira used to wear dupatta while sleeping, it might have wrapped around her neck, choking her,” he had said.

The bride’s father had filed an FIR, stating murder charges.
