We all know how likes, retweets, and love reactions on social media are a pivotal factor for one’s validation, but the following case was unlike any other attempt to get more engagement on the Internet.

A man from Algeria reportedly took hold of and suspended his baby out from a 15-floor-high window in a bid to gain some popularity. The father demanded ‘1,000 Facebook likes’ against a threat of dropping his absolutely terrified son from a height of more than 160 feet.

Obviously, numerous Facebook users reported the act to security authorities and the social networking giant itself.

“What is most striking is that it appears that the father is carrying his son with his left hand while using his right hand to take the picture," one user wrote, according to Yahoo!.

Another wrote, “This means the picture is more important than the child's life.”

The accused has been given a sentence of two years in jail for child abuse.
