Mona Lisa eyes, real da Vinci Code?
LONDON: Newly discovered “Da Vinci Code” may identify Mona Lisa model.

Italy’s National Committee for Cultural Heritage has discovered yet another mystery in the famous Mona Lisa painting by Renaissance artist, Leonardo Da Vinci.

Arguably, the most well-known painting of all time has unveiled another mystery, not in the enigmatic smile of the painting’s mysterious model, but in her eyes.

According to Silvano Vinceti, chairman of the committee, who has been studying the portrait, a book published by a French art historian in the 1960s prompted him to take a deeper look into the eyes of the masterpiece after it was mentioned in the book that small letters were painted into them.

The letters, discernable only with high-resolution techniques and painted in black on the Mona Lisa’s hazel irises, are LV in the right eye and either the letters BS or CE in the left.

The right initials are believed to be those of Da Vinci, while speculation swirls around those in the left eye, believed to hold the identity of the model who sat for the classic masterwork.
