SHIKARPUR: The thirteen victims, including women and children, of a deadly shootout between two groups on Monday will be buried in their native towns today.

At least 13 people were killed while more than twenty injured during an exchange of fire between two armed groups of the Jatoi tribe in Shikarpur on Monday.

An eight-year-old girl and two women were among the deceased, while the clash left several women and children injured too. The deceased and wounded were shifted to Civil Hospital.

The clash between the two groups took place in Khanpur near Faizu Bangla Police Station in Shikarpur. Owing to the remoteness of the site, police were late to reach the area and control the situation.

Moreover, police are yet to register a case over the incident despite the Sindh chief minister's 'notice'.

Police said the scuffle was the result of a long enmity between the two groups over a land dispute, which has already claimed six lives in the past five years.

Later on Tuesday, reports emerged that the Rangers have been called into Shikarpur to dislodge the warring groups from the positions they have taken up against each other.
