Twitter Inc said on Tuesday it had hired Ned Segal – senior vice president of finance at Intuit Inc – as its chief financial officer beginning in late August.

Anthony Noto, who has been serving as Twitter's chief financial officer and chief operating officer since November, will remain at the company as the chief operating officer, Twitter said in a statement.

New features rolled out

Twitter Inc, in its latest step to curb abusive behaviour on its platform, rolled out new features on Monday to help users disable notifications from accounts that they want to avoid.

The microblogging website said its "advanced filter settings" will now have options for users to mute notifications from accounts that they do not follow as well as from accounts that do not follow them.

Twitter and rival Facebook Inc have been facing a barrage of criticism for failing to tackle cyber-bullying, fake news, and extremist propaganda on their platforms.
