Reckless driving: Oil tanker overturns near Rahim Yar Khan

RAHIM YAR KHAN: An oil tanker overturned on the National Highway near Rahim Yar Khan Thursday morning.

The tanker, transporting around 40,000 litres of fuel, skidded off the road after the driver dozed off while passing by Koochi Muhammad Khan, according to officials.

The oil tanker was travelling from Karachi to Sher Shah Depot, Multan, the police informed.

No one was harmed in the incident.

The cases of oil tanker overturning have become a cause of concern recently after more than 215 people were killed after a blaze erupted in an oil tanker, which had overturned near Ahmedpur East area of Bahawalpur on June 25.

Following the crash, people nearby areas had gathered around the tanker to pilfer oil.

On July 9, another oil tanker crashed on Vehari’s Sinchawala road, following which some residents reached the site and began taking out fuel.

Geo News footage showed locals using a drain to take out fuel and loading it onto drums in Vehari. Thousands of litres of diesel were reportedly present inside the tanker and could have led to an accident.
