ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday decided to support the formation of a parliamentary ethics committee following the allegations levelled against party chairman Imran Khan by MNA Ayesha Gulalai.

The meeting, presided over by Imran Khan, also decided to object over the inclusion of certain members in the committee, said sources.

The party will question Speaker Ayaz Sadiq regarding the law under which the committee was formed.

Sources added that a discussion on the strategy over Gulalai allegations also took place during the party meeting.

The country’s current political situation, as well as Nawaz Sharif’s plans to travel to Lahore via GT Road this week, also came under discussion in the meeting, the sources said.

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid was also invited to the meeting, the sources added.

Imran Khan on Sunday expressed his reservations over Nawaz Sharif’s plan to travel to Lahore in a cavalcade via GT road, saying that Sharif’s plan was a “deliberate attempt to continue undermining the Supreme Court of Pakistan by calling into question its decision on the Panama case,” which was a “unanimous decision” by the five-member SC bench after a “thorough investigation”.

The PTI earlier also rejected the demand for a bi-partisan parliamentary committee to probe Gulalai’s allegations against Imran Khan.
