Gakhar Plaza to reopen in Feb
RAWALPINDI: Gakhar Plaza, one of the major shopping centres which was burnt to ashes by raging fire in 2008 would reopen by February next year.
Owner of the Plaza Raja Shahid Zafar told APP that the shopping centre was being fully rebuilt, refurbished and equipped with the latest security gadgets to avoid recurrence of such incident in future.
Fire fighting system, fire exits, elevators and capsule lifts will be installed in the building, he added.
The Plaza will be a no smoking zone where shopkeepers as well as customers will not be allowed smoking.
He said that more than 500 shops are near completion which will be handed over to the old tenants on priority basis.
Giving further details, he said this shopping centre will be a ten-storey building out of which two storeys will be reserved for car parking.A mosque will also be built within its premises enabling the faithfuls to offer prayers.
It may be mentioned that Gakhar Plaza is one of the oldest shopping malls situated in the busiest place of Saddar.
The shoppers preferred this plaza over others for their shopping because of the availability of variety of goods and their reasonable prices.
It had a unique blend of products at affordable prices and good quality.
