Opposition parties' representatives have questioned the government's claims that Nawaz Sharif's 'GT Road rally' reflects the trust and support of the people.

Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed, a resident of Rawalpindi, termed Nawaz's speech [on Wednesday night] a pack of lies, saying the day the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) starts speaking the truth will be their last day.

He claimed that the people of Islamabad did not come out to support Nawaz, adding that neither were residents of the federal capital in Rawalpindi last night.

Rasheed also said that this is the weakest rally he has ever seen and congratulated residents of Rawalpindi for rejecting the rally.

Similarly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry Resources criticised the use of state resources from Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan on the rally.

Chaudhry claimed those who advised Nawaz to take out the rally have taken revenge from Nawaz.

The PML-N has governments in the centre as well as Punjab so who are they protesting against, asked PML-Q chief Pervez Elahi.

Elahi, a former chief minister of Punjab, wondered that the way they are out on the streets [celebrating] makes one think that they have conquered Kashmir.

Chaudhry said Nawaz was disqualified on corruption charges and claimed the people have rejected Nawaz’s ‘anti-judiciary’ march.
