Man with sight, speech, aural disabilities weaves colour into lives of people in Vehari

VEHARI: A person with sight, aural and speaking disabilities works day and night to bring colour into the lives of the people in Vehari.

The 40-year-old charpoy weaver, identified as Abdul Aziz, is popular in the area for his unique designs. He weaves charpoys for different people in his village, Chak 63, and earns around Rs150 to Rs300 for weaving one charpoy.

Aziz, who has been weaving charpoys since the past 15 years, lives in a two-room mud house with his elderly mother.

The mother, who is quite proud of her son, shared that her only wish is to go for Hajj one day.

Despite many financial challenges, Aziz never gave up and continued to work.

Aziz’s hard work and determination has made him an inspiration for everyone in his village. The entire village claims to be proud of him.

Speaking about Aziz’s craft, a villager remarked that he is an extremely talented craftsman. “There is no one else as talented as him [Aziz], he shared.

Another shared that Aziz has become a symbol of hard work and courage in the village. “He never begged for money, rather he works hard and earns a living for himself,” he added.
