ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will evolve an effective mechanism to monitor existing sensitive structures and high rise buildings in the city to avoid any untoward incident.
CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Saturday directed the authority's departments concerned to introduce monitoring system for checking the effects of earthquakes and heavy rains on the existing sensitive structures as well as high rise buildings, which have been constructed in the Federal Capital.
He directed the Project Director of under construction Zero Point Interchange to install the monitoring gadgets at south-eastern part of the flyover near Pakistan Monument to check any slippage of the vertical slope aimed at avoiding any damage to the historical site.
He also directed the authorities concerned to suggest the owners of high rise buildings to install similar monitoring system to asses any adverse effect due to earthquakes and heavy rains.
Inayat Elahi underlined the need to modify the CDA building bylaws making the installation of proper monitoring system mandatory especially for high rise buildings.
