Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – Iran’s former president who strongly opposed US policies during his tenure has been tweeting lyrics from deceased rapper Tupac.

“It’s time to fight back that’s what Huey said. Two shots in the dark, now Huey’s dead,” Ahmadinejad tweeted on October 16. The lyrics from Tupac's Changes were tweeted by the former president on the 52nd anniversary of the foundation of the Black Panther Party.

Changes released in 2018, two years after Tupac’s death makes references to the treatment of African Americans in the US. The lyrics tweeted by Ahmedinejad mention Huey P. Newton who was the co-founder of the Black Panthers.

By tweeting the lyrics of this song, Ahmadinejad is attempting to highlight the racial divide in the US which has grown stronger during the presidency of Donald Trump.

In the past, Ahmadinejad has tweeted about other racial issues in America. In an August 5 tweet, Ahmadinejad made a reference to NBA star LeBron James who just a day earlier was the target of one of Trump's tweets.

On August 4, Trump took to Twitter to target LeBron James after the NBA star in an interview had criticized the US president of dividing the nation by using athletes and athletics.

The former Iranian president has also tweeted about the controversy surrounding former NFL quarterback Collin Kaepernick whose refusal to kneel during the US national anthem led to strong criticism from Trump in 2016.
