KARACHI: The National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases (NICVD), a major hospital in Sindh, is facing an acute shortage of medicines since the past three days.

The head of the hospital’s pharmacy has written to the executive director Dr Nadeem Rizvi to address this issue and fulfill the requirement of medicines as soon as possible

“Pharmacy Services, NICVD Karachi and satellite centres across Sindh province are facing acute shortage of medicines, prescription bounces from last month due to improper supply-chain process at purchase end,” the letter reads

As the stock of almost all major medicines has run out, patients have no choice but to purchase them from medical stores, where quality of drugs might not always be up to the mark.

The executive director, however, has denied the reports.
