Government to issue health insurance cards to Fata residents

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced health insurance cards to merged districts of Federal Administrative Tribal Area (FATA) for poor families under the prime minister’s vision of National Health Programme.

An official from States and Frontier Regions Ministry told APP that for this purpose an amount of Rs1.1 billion had already been approved by the Federal Government.

He said that HIC was a revolutionary scheme of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government to facilitate poor people of the former FATA.

He said that free of cost health facilities would be provided to the people of FATA through this card.

The official added that the health insurance card would be distributed among the poor families of the FATA.

He said that under this programme, health expenses would be paid annually by the provincial government for treatment and others related facilities to each poor family in government and private hospitals.

He said that HIC would be distributed among poor families across the former FATA without any political discrimination.
