SRINAGAR: An Indian fighter jet crashed in the Budgam district in Indian-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday morning, killing two pilots onboard, local media reported.

According to reports, the plane crashed due to a technical fault.

The plane, that had taken off from Srinagar airbase, crashed in an open field in Budgam.

The incident occurs amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, a day after Indian jets violated Pakistani airspace by intruding from the Muzaffarabad sector.

The aircraft were, however, repelled by the timely action of Pakistan of Pakistan Air Force.
