If you are in the mood for an extravagant Arabian dessert that requires less effort, you’re in for a treat. This dessert is suitable for any occasion with a good amount of sweetness, nutty taste and texture. It’s healthy and rich as it is based on milk, cream and nuts.
We share a recipe for this unusually different dessert to serve your guests, ‘Umali’. Happy eating!
Danish pastry As required
Croissants As required
Milk 4 cups
Cream 1/2 cup
Sugar 1 cup
Dry nuts 1 cup
Mix milk, cream, nuts (saving some for garnish) and sugar over low heat and reduce until it thickens.
Cut croissants into small pieces and preheat the oven.
In a buttered ovenproof dish, line it with pastry dough. Bake in oven until cooked and crisp.
Let it cool a bit and then add pieces of croissants.
Pour the mixture over croissants to soak them completely.
Top it off with some sugar and nuts, bake until it browns on top.
Serve hot and enjoy.
