BAHAWALPUR: A man killed his wife and a teenage son on Wednesday after his reconciliation bid to pacify his spouse was turned down, police confirmed.

Officials at the Samasatta police station said the man — identified as Ali, a 45-year-old resident of Karachi — had gone to try and pacify his upset wife, Nadra. Upon her rejection of his reconciliation bid, he opened fire, killing both his wife and his 16-year-old son, Kamran.

Shortly afterwards, he tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head with the same gun but failed and he was, therefore, shifted to Bahawalpur's Bahawal Victoria Hospital in a critical condition.
