KERALA: A teacher from a government girls school in Kerala has been suspended after he allegedly told students they should "go to Pakistan" if they cannot accept the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The teacher, Kaleshan, was suspended on Thursday after the education department deputy director in Thissur took notice of the incident as the father of a student filed a complaint through social media, Indian news media reported.

According to officials, Kaleshan had addressed students supporting the controversial CAA, saying they should move to Pakistan if they weren’t accepting of the recently passed law.

The students had filed several complaints against the teacher in question, who also allegedly used to talk to the students of Kodungallur girls higher secondary school using sexual references, officials said.

The teacher was suspended following the inquiry after a disciplinary committee found the allegations justified.
