TEHRAN: Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei pardoned 100 prisoners convicted of "security offences," Tehran's prosecutor general Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said on Saturday, quoted by Fars news agency.
The pardon "came after they repented ... Seventy of them will be released this evening already," he said.
Fars said that some of those being released were among those rounded up in unrest following the June 2009 controversial re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. (AFP)
