LAHORE: Dengue fever has devoured four more patients in Lahore taking the total tally of deaths up to 41, Geo News reported Sunday.
In a new development Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has ordered hiring at least a thousand nurses to tend to dengue patients thronging the hospitals.
Khalida Bibi (35), Moon Usman, and Bashir Masih, and a patient in Mao Hospital died of this deadly disease today here in Lahore.
Even the newly introduced dengue counters have not helped the situation much as dengue patients are pouring in at a cutthroat rate.
Long perpetual queues of panicked patients are jamming outside laboratories for blood tests.
Dengue-scare is so rampant that every febrile patient wants himself to be tested to make sure he is not dengue-positive.
On the other hand Punjab government has fixed the fee for dengue test at Rs90, and sealed 47 laboratories violating this directive.
Provincial government has appealed to the public to join hands with the authorities against dengue outbreak.
CM Punjab has said that his government is doing every thing it can to end this epidemic.
