Enquiry official appointed to probe van accident

HYDERABAD: Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Bux Narejo Thursday appointed the Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Matiari Naveed Javed as enquiry officer to probe into the cause of the van accident, which claimed lives of eleven people and injuries to 12 others near Matiari on Wednesday.

While appointing Naved Javed as enquiry officer, the Commissioner asked him to hold an enquiry find major cause of the blast of CNG cylinder of the van whether it was outdated, fitted from unauthorized dealer or made of substandard material.

The enquiry officer has been asked to also check adequate pressure of the filling station from which, the unfortunate vehicle was lastly fueled.

The enquiry officer should also inspect whether contract carriage was fit to ply on road, covered with route permits, had fitness certificate and the driver valid driving license, the Commissioner added and directed to record any evidence of eye witness/passengers and response of different departments/agencies for rescue and relief.

The enquiry officer should furnish his report with five days positively, the Commissioner directed.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Commissioner, the Additional Commissioner Hyderabad Rafihuddin and Assistant Commissioner Hyderabad City Abid Saleem Qureshi visited Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad on Wednesday night to enquire the health of injured persons.

They assured that medical treatment of the injured persons will be carried out on government's expenses and asked the doctors concerned to pay full attention towards their early recovery. (APP)
