Power supply resumes at water pumping stations
KARACHI: Power supply to Gharo, Dhabeji and Pipri pumping stations has been resumed after the tripped transmission line was repaired Saturday, Geo News reported.

These pumping stations are the main source of water supply to Karachi where the electricity supply was suspended early on Saturday when a 132 KV transmission line was tripped.

The suspension of power supply to these three pumping stations had resulted in halt to millions of gallon water to the metropolis from 5:30 am on Saturday.

While talking to Geo News, Chief Engineer Water Board Iftikhar Ahmed told that these pumping stations supply 680 million gallon of water to Karachi daily.

On the other hand, KESC spokesman Amin-ur-Rahman told that a 132 KV transmission line got tripped due to which electricity to water board’s pumping stations was suspended while the repair work was underway.

The spokesman also told that the water board is also due to pay Rs17 billion to KESC.
