With votes counted, surprises and triumphs emerge, but the complete picture remains unclear after nearly a day.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), whose supremo Nawaz Sharif returned to the country after ending a self-imposed exile last year, is in a seemingly strong position.

All top leaders — Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Hamza Shehbaz — have won seats from Lahore and Kasur.
