Islamabad: Food poisoning at wedding lands 70 in hospital

ISLAMABAD: Food poisoning has landed at least 70 wedding guests including the bride as well as the bridegroom in the hospital here on Sunday night, Geo News reported.

Sources said the food served at the wedding reception feast in Dhok Beerdkhand area was either contaminated or stale.

The guests started throwing up food soon after they started eating at the reception feast.

The alarms were rang after many guests including women and children passed out. They were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Hospital sources said they received around 70 cases of food poisoning. The patients were being treated for severe gastric stress, the hospital authorities said, adding however three of them were critical.

Police have seized all the food served at the marriage reception on top of taking the cook into custody for further investigation.
